Today was National Mouth Cancer Awareness Day. Given the success of the event at both Dublin and Cork Dental Hospitals last year, it was decided that this year approximately 750 dentists throughout Ireland would participate in the event.
At Shelbourne Dental Clinic, we are happy to report the event was a complete success! New patients attended the surgery throughout the day and were seen by both Dr. Kelly and Dr. Cassidy for their free mouth cancer screening examination. We discussed the various types of mouth cancer, risk factors and treatment methods, stressing that mouth cancer screenings are automatically carried out by the dentist when a patient attends for their 6 month check-up.
Many thanks to all those who took 20 minutes of their time today to drop down and see us. And thanks also to our wonderful Colgate Rep, Dave, who helped stock our ‘goody bags’ for patients who attended…. there was one for everybody in the audience!
Needless to say, we look forward to continue promoting mouth cancer awareness among our patients and hope that this wonderful initiative will become an annual event nationwide!
